KASKAI
Size: m. 2,45 x 1,66 - 8’3” x 5’5”
Age: end of XIX century.
Condition: perfect.
The name Kaskai comes from the tribe living in the South West Persian region of Fars. Their rugs production was one of the few tribal weavings in Iran and has specific qualities: the wool is lustrous, colours are brilliant and peculiarities in design as the typical Kaskai medallion.
Three hooked medallions dominate the field divided itself by a big hexagon on blue background. The whole is filled by an incredible number of geometrical motives in different colours.
The border main band is decorated with a shah pasand pattern, literally ” King’s flower”, based on a repetitive motif of two palmettes with a flower in the middle.
